I love tacos of all kinds. Everything from my Breakfast Tacos, Birria Tacos, Carne Asada Tacos to Cauliflower Tacos. All are amazing. This taco seasoning recipe is a long time coming. Feel free to add it to any protein or veggies you like!

Ingredients You’ll Need for this Taco Seasoning Recipe

Taco Seasoning ingredients.
  1. Ground Cumin – I love cumin for it’s smokey and savory flavor.
  2. Ground Chili – This is different than Chile Powder. I like to use ground chili which is simply a mix of different chiles that are ground up together.
  3. Ground Paprika – I like using smokey paprika but sweet paprika will also work great.
  4. Onion Powder + Garlic Powder – Typically garlic powder will have a small amount of salt in it so keep that in mind when salting your protein or veggies.
  5. Dried oregano – I love using the Mexican varietal but Italian oregano also works.

How to Use this Spice Blend

Here’s how I like to use this taco seasoning:

  • 1 Pound of Protein (chicken, ground beef, flank steak or shrimp) = 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning.
  • 2 zucchini = 2 teaspoons of taco seasoning

Zero salt: I didn’t include any salt in this taco seasoning on purpose. I find it’s best to salt protein according to the type of protein. AND then add the seasoning. I usually gear toward 1 teaspoon of kosher salt per 1 pound of protein.

When stored in a cool and dry place, this spice blend will last six to twelve months.

How can I make it spicy?

You can make it spicy by adding two teaspoons ground cayenne pepper.

Why do you not add salt?

I don’t like adding salt to this spice blend because I find that different meats need different amounts of salt. I like to salt my protein or veggies first and then add in the spice blend.
