These watermelon margaritas are so refreshing and delicious. They’re perfectly sweet, tart and easy to throw together. This is a batch cocktail so you can mix, chill and serve.

Batch Cocktails
I’m going to be honest, I don’t love making one cocktail at a time, especially if I have people coming over. I like to make a batch cocktail. I mix everything together all at once, stick it in the fridge before they come over so it gets nice and chilled. And then I casually can pour everyone a drink from that. It provides entertaining ease.
You can double this if you want. It’ll serve about four people once.

How to Make Watermelon Margaritas
- Cube up your watermelon. I used a 5-pound seedless mini watermelon. If you’re using a bigger watermelon, simply scale the recipe up.
- Add the watermelon to a blender and blend it up until it becomes super smooth, about 1 minute. It may take a bit to get it started. I used the tapper accessory my blender came with.
- Pour the watermelon puree through a strainer into a carafe or large measuring cup. You may need to work it through the strainer using a whisk. I found that to be the easiest way. Discard the pulp.
- To the watermelon juice, pour in the tequila, cointreau and lime juice. Transfer to the fridge to chill for 1 to 2 hours or up to 3 days.
- Run a lime wedge around your glasses. Add some salt to a shallow plate. And dip the edges of the glasses in the salt. Add ice to each glass and pour the margarita mix in.
- Serve with any garnish you like: lime wedges, balls of melon or simply as is. Serve!

Tips and Tricks
- Can I use other fruit for this? Yes, I would recommend using other melons like honeydew, cantaloupe, canary melons or winter melons. You may need to taste it and adjust the sweetener to taste. You could make a simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water) or add a bit of agave.
- Can I make this ahead? Yes, absolutely. Since this is a batch cocktail, it’ll stay good in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Can I make this without alcohol? Yep, you can leave out the alcohol and simply replace the cointreau with orange juice. It’ll give it the same flavor vibe.

Watermelon Margaritas
Ingredients
- 1 (5-pound) mini watermelon (reserve a few melon balls for garnish, optional)
- 3/4 cup tequila blanco (6 fluid ounces)
- 1/4 cup cointreau (2 fluid ounces)
- 1/4 cup lime juice (from about 2-3 limes)
- 1 lime wedge for rim
- Kosher salt for rim
Instructions
To Make Watermelon Margaritas:
- Cube up your watermelon and add it to a blender. Blend it up until very smooth, about 1 minute. You may need to do this in batches depending on how big your blender is. You also might need that little stopper/mixer tool to get it going.
- Place a sieve over a big measuring cup or pitcher and pour the watermelon puree through it. Work it through the sieve by using a whisk. And then discard the pulp. I ended up with about 5 cups of watermelon juice.
- Mix in the tequila, cointreau and lime juice. Give it a taste and adjust the alcohol to your liking. I purposefully made it on the lighter side; add more if you want it boozier.
- Fill a shallow small plate with kosher salt. Run a lime wedge around the edge of your glasses and dip the rim in a salt. Add ice cubes to each of the glasses and then pour in the watermelon margarita mix. Serve with a garnish if you like (I made melon balls using a small teaspoon measure) and enjoy.
