This fresh mango salsa is only five ingredients and will lend so much flavor to a batch baja fish tacos, chicken burrito bowls, carne asada tacos or simply serve it with chips and salsa. This mango salsa is slightly sweet and spicy and is the perfect complement to an array of Mexican dishes!

I love salsa of all kinds. Especially fresh salsas (like my authentic pico de gallo and salsa verde). Nothing is better than a few ingredients chopped up and scooped on a chip or over some tacos with a nice cold chelada. I love this salsa in the summer when I’m craving a bit of spicy and sweet. Let’s dive into it!

Ingredients for Mango Salsa

  1. Mangos! We want ripe mangos for this. I love the thai-variety of mangos but truly any of them will work great.
  2. Red onion. I love red onion in this salsa because it adds a bit of spice. The color adds a nice dimension too.
  3. Cilantro. It adds a delicious fresh herbaceous element to this salsa.
  4. Lime juice. Like any salsa, it needs a healthy dose of acidity. I love lime juice.
  5. Jalapeรฑo. You can use jalapeรฑos for a bit of spice. I personally like using serranos because ALL of the jalapeรฑos I’ve used in the last month have been SO bland. But feel free to use what you like.

How to Make Mango Salsa

This couldn’t be easier.

  1. Dice up all of the ingredients: mango, red onion and jalapeรฑo.
  2. Add them to a large bowl. Add in the minced cilantro and squeeze in the lime juice. Add salt to taste. And then mix!

Variations on Mango Salsa

Add Avocado – I added avocado 🥑 and it was delicious. If you want to add a creamier texture to this mango salsa, feel free to add 1 diced avocado.

Add Red Bell Pepper – If you want to add some added crunch, I suggest dicing up 1/2 red bell pepper.

What pairs well with Mango Salsa?

I think this would be delicious on grilled fish, shrimp tacos, spooned over my baja fish tacos, jackfruit tinga tacos or added to a burrito bowl. It also is delicious on its own with tortilla chips.

Can I use another fruit besides mango?

I’ve used pineapple for these squash tacos before and it’s delicious. I’ve never tried any other fruit in this application!

Ingredients 

  • 2 ripe mangos, finely diced
  • 1/3 cup red onion, (from 1/4 onion)
  • 1/4 cup minced cilantro
  • Juice from 1 lime juice
  • 1 jalapeno, seeds removed and finely diced OR 1 serrano, diced
  • Kosher salt, to taste

Instructions 

  • To a medium bowl, mix all of the ingredients together. Adjust the salt to taste. Serve with chips.
