About Adrianna

Adrianna and Amelia

Hi! I’m Adrianna. This is my blog where I share my favorite recipes and random tangents about life with you all. Thanks for being here.

This blog is fueled by copious amounts of hip-hop, sugar, butter and flour. I first started this blog when I was working a job that left to be desired in the creativity department. After a few years of plugging away, I was able to leave and now I do it full-time. YAY!

The recipes I love to make are ALWAYS comforting and cozy and often times are inspired by my Latin-American background. My mom is Peruvian and my dad is Colombian. You’ll find some traditional classics from both countries as well as a bunch of mash-ups that hopefully aren’t offensive (I was raised in the US, after all). Another thing you’ll find a lot of: pastries, cakes, breakfast stuff and lots and lots of pie.

In 2015, I released The Year of Cozy: 125 Recipes, Crafts & Other Homemade Adventures (Rodale). It was the most fun and exhausting experience ever and I loved every minute of it. And in 2016, I came out with a coloring cookbook called A Cozy Coloring Cookbook: 45 Recipes to Eat, Cook & Color. If you’d like to read about them more, hop on over to my Cookbooks Page.

I currently live in Los Angeles, California with my husband, Joshua, and corgi Amelia.

If you’re a brand and would like to work together, feel free to shoot me an email for rates and media kit. In the past, I’ve worked with Scharffen-Berger, Anthropologie, Vitamix, Clover Petaluma, Stella & Chewy’s, Coolhaus, Google Home and more!

Yup, I pretty much love A Cozy Kitchen. For real. When I read “it’s usually just grown-up versions of stuff I ate as a kid” I was like, “Yes!” (I seriously eat “grown up” mac ‘n cheese, like, once a week. Maybe not that often, but close.) Anyway, I love your recipes, love your photos, love the look of your blog – everything! Thanks for being so lovely and consider me subscribed! 🙂

I came across your blog by absently clicking through stumbleupon the other day and have been hooked on it since. I have a list a mile long of recipes I want to try! I absolutely love food, but I am a terrible cook so I love that fact that all of your recipes are so simple yet look sooooo delish. I think I have found a new favorite corner of the internet. Thanks so much for sharing your great ideas.

I love your website. Thank you for such beautifully appealing layouts and delicious, easy-to-follow recipes. Your roasted brussel sprout leaves idea is genius! I made them for New Year’s Day Dinner and threw them in a bowl with wild rice, roasted black eye peas (never cooked them that way before, but yum!), sautéed mushrooms and sprinkles crispy bacon over the top and it was a huge hit! I can’t imagine why I’d never eaten B-Sprouts this way before?!?! Happy New Year to you!

Have to say that I just stumbled upon your site because I was searching for a chickpea harissa recipe and I love your blog. Great recipes with lots of pictures and fun anecdotes.

We also live in LA and just rescued a pup we found on PetFinder two weeks ago. He’s a joy (if a bit of a handful.) Rescue’s definitely the way to go. And there’s always a way to work with your landlord (addl deposit, pet rent,) if you’re reluctant to move.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks.

It’s so refreshing to know theres someone else out there that has the same passion towards great foods, taste and respect for ingriedients….it’s also nice to read your little stories which make the recipes, in my humble opinion, a bit more fun. I LOVE the caprese salad..make it all the time, especially when i want to make people think I know what I am doing..lol Thank you, and I havn’t tried one of your recipes yet that hasn’t knocked mine or my kids (including the kid I call husband) socks off.! I will be keeping my eye out for your book this spring for sure!

Hello Adrianna, I found your blog via Vintage Kitchen Notes, and am so glad I did! I was reading your Green Spaghetti post, and could just SEE my mom, in place of yours! She, too, was not to be messed with…and she, too, became my best friend. I think the first words I remember her saying was, “Learn to cultivate a taste for…” whatever it was I didn’t want to eat at the time! But, I DID learn to like…LOVE all kinds of food, and became the foodie I am today because of her! I learned so much from her…I miss her so much. Thank you for that little snippet of “mind-rewind” I had while enjoying your story!

Just wanted to make a comment about your picture. I don’t like it. I’m not saying this to say that I don’t like you. Of course, I don’t know you. I just don’t like the picture of you. Your glance sideways is really awkward and hides you. I think if you are going to post a picture of yourself on your website, it should be face forward. So people can see you. Not cheeky you. Anyway, i’m going to try that mayonnaise cake recipe if I ever reach my goal weight and I can afford to splurge a bit.

    • Reply Danielle January 27, 2015 at 4:05 pm

I think the picture is perfect. You do not have to appeal to what anyone’s sense of a “good picture” is. The portrait you chose seems to capture your personality, and if an image cannot do that, then what is the point?! A boring portrait of you facing forward would be just that, boring! Be unique! Don’t change it!

    • Reply Adrianna Adarme October 10, 2013 at 11:56 am

It’s a great place to stay because it’s super central. Here’s a short list of recommendations:

Bakeries/Breakfast/Good Coffee – Short Cake, Proof, Huckleberry, Hart + Hunter (not a bakery, per se but they have awesome baked goods), Sqirl.

Dinner – Mozza Pizzeria (pizza), Angelini Osteria (Northern Italian), Bestia (Southern Italian, expensive but worth it – make a res far in advance),

Taco trucks – Taco Zone (truck in Echo Park), Tacos Arizas (truck in Echo Park), Rico’s Mar Azul Mariscos Truck (in Highland Park – by far my favorite), Kogi BBQ (a staple), Guisados (restaurant for tacos in Echo park).

Let me know where you end up going. Have an awesome trip. I love this city!

Whoops! I wrote a comment & promptly lost it in internet space somewhere. So, here goes my second attempt: Love your blog/website. I just discovered it today while searching for grain-free treats for my new doggy. I clicked on your recipe and was rewarded with photos of the most a-DOR-able puppy dog!! (Your corgi pup Amelia). She’s a doll. I’d love to see some pics of her at different stages of her growth, did you post any?

Thanks for recipe too, of course.

Just discovered you & your gorgeous recipes/food! Trying out a recipe or two over this long holiday weekend. Just a quick note of support from New England! If you schedule any book signings, don’t forget Boston! Rock on, girl!

    Hey Adrianna,

Could you give advice on cooking with little money for food?
I would love to start cooking some of your recipes- I saved the goat cheese tomato soup a long time ago- but at this point in my life I can barely eat in general, much less have ample amount of money for grocery (ingredient) shopping. It helps to have spices and the basics already stocked up, I’m sure.
Thanks dahling- hope to hear from you soon!

    Xx Meg

Thank you for the recipe. My mother is from Peru, and we had the instant version. It is delicious, and I would love my children to try it.

haha. my mom used to make the instant version sometimes too! some mixes actually aren’t that bad. most peruvian restaurants in the US actually use the instant mix.

Hello Ms ADRIANNA, I want to make this jalapeno cheddar cheese cornbread to take to work. Please inform how I prepare it using a 9×13 glass baking dish, and adding cream corn. In your opinion how would the taste change if I use white sugar instead of brown sugar? Thank you

    • Reply Adrianna Adarme January 19, 2020 at 7:32 pm

Hmm…I would double the recipe. Not sure how long it would take. Maybe 40 minutes? I would stick to the recipe as much as it’s written. I didn’t test it the other ways so not sure how it would all work! 🙂
