Going to coffee shops is one of my favorite hobbies. I love trying new drinks. And I’ve been making this exact Strawberry Matcha Latte for years. It’s like a spring-fied version of my Iced Matcha Latte (and warm Matcha Latte). Both are divine.

Ingredients You’ll Need for this Strawberry Matcha Latte

Ingredients for Strawberry Matcha Latte.
  1. Matcha – I like to use ceremonial grade matcha for all my matcha drinks.
  2. Strawberries – Fresh delicious strawberries.
  3. Milk of choice – I’ll usually go between oat milk or whole milk for this drink.
  4. Heavy cream – We need this for the topping. The fat in the heavy cream is what’s going to give us that delicious texture.

For the rest of the ingredients, please see the recipe index card below!

How to Make a Strawberry Matcha Latte

  1. Make the strawberry syrup, by cooking the chopped strawberries with sugar and water. The strawberries will become softened.

2. Strain the strawberries through a sieve into a small bowl. Allow the strawberry syrup to cool.

3. Add in heavy cream and beat it until fluffy. I like soft peaks for this strawberry whipped cream.

4. Add the matcha to a small bowl. Whisk in the water until the matcha has dissolved. Mix in the honey.

5. Fill up your glass with ice. And then pour in your milk of choice. Add in the matcha and top it with the strawberry foam.

Recipe Tip

Other fruit to use – I haven’t tried this with other fruits but I think raspberries would be delicious. I would say it might need a touch more honey since they tend to be tarter than strawberries. Blueberries, peaches and blackberries would all be delicious.

Ceremonial vs. conventional matcha – There are two different grades of matcha. Ceremonial is higher quality and usually more expensive. It’s best in drinks and conventional works great in baking (like my Matcha Tiramisu or Chocolate Matcha Cake).

Recipe FAQs

What does a strawberry matcha latte taste like?

Umm…like heaven. But no seriously, the flavors are so complementary. The earthy slightly sweetened matcha goes so well with the fruity, bright strawberry foam. It’s creamy and delicious.

Is matcha healthy for you?

Matcha has a lot of anti-oxidents which can be really helpful. It also has a slower release of caffeine in our system, compared to coffee, which can be helpful for people who are sensitive to caffeine.

What can I do with leftover strawberries?

Make this strawberry butter or use it to make these strawberry margaritas.

Make this Strawberry Matcha Latte for a delicious refreshing pick-me-up. Fresh strawberries are gently cooked to make a strawberry syrup. Heavy cream makes a strawberry foam that's poured on top of your favorite iced matcha latte.

Ingredients

To Make the Strawberry Syrup and Foam:

To Make the Matcha Iced Latte:

  • 2 teaspoons matcha
  • 2 teaspoons hot water
  • 1 tablespoons honey
  • Milk of choice

Instructions

To Make the Strawberry Syrup:

  • To a small saucepan, set over medium heat, add the strawberries, sugar and water. Cook until the strawberries have softened. Strain the strawberries and keep the syrup. Allow to cool.

To Make the Strawberry Whipped Foam:

  • To a small bowl, add the heavy cream to the strawberry syrup. Whip until light and fluffy, about 30 seconds or so. I like a very soft whipped cream for this drink. I like it to be pourable.

To Make the Iced Matcha Latte:

  • Add the matcha to a small bowl, pour in about 2 tablespoons of hot water. And stir vigorously until it's dissolved. Lastly, mix in the honey.
  • Fill a glass with ice. Pour in your milk of choice, the matcha and top with the strawberry foam.
