Strawberry Margaritas are my favorite fruity take on a classic margarita. Forget your bottled mixes because the best type of margarita is one made from fresh strawberries, fresh lime juice and the most delicious tequila blanco. Salt is also a must!
Why these margaritas are the best!
Regular margaritas are delicious. I will not fight you on that! But, strawberry flavor takes it to a new fun level. This recipe utilizes spring produce, giving it a delicious berry twist that I’m very into!
How to Make a Strawberry Margarita
- Make your strawberry syrup. Add the strawberries with the sugar and water in a saucepan. Cook until simmering and softened, about 5 minutes.
- Blend them up in a food processor to get it really blended. Of course, you can use a blender too.
- Pour it through a strainer to discard the pulp. I like this margarita pulp-free, but of course you could skip this step if you want.
- Rub each of the glasses’ rims with a bit of a used lime wedge. Dip it into the kosher salt. I HAVE to have salt on the rim of my glass for a margarita.
- Fill up the glasses with ice.
- To a shaker (or in my case, a coffee-to go mug), add a handful of ice, 2 ounces of strawberry syrup, tequila, triple sec and lime juice. Shake for 30 seconds.
- And then, divide amongst the glasses.
Tips and Tricks
- I like my margaritas ice cold! So be sure to really give it a good shake. I like to do it for at least 30 seconds.
- Fresh strawberries are always best for this cocktail but if you have frozen, those work, too! Just be sure to thaw them completely before proceeding with the recipe.
- Use good quality tequila blanco. If you want an extra bit of smokiness added, replace 2 ounces of the tequila with mezcal. Yum.

I like margaritas cold too, and good tip about fresh strawberries too, I always default to frozen, so thank you, much appreciated!
