Meyer Lemon Ricotta Cookies

Whoa. I miss cable. Like, a lot. Remember a few weeks ago I was all brave cancelled my cable? Well, I miss it. Sure, I mean, I get my Mad Men fix and I watch Game of Thrones (totally illegally) ever week. But the real question–which I’m too ashamed to google to find out myself–is…how is Bethenny? What’s up with her and Jason? Are they okay? Also, Shahs of Sunset…is it awful in a good way or just straight up unbearable?

Last weekend I was at the bar and a friend made a Shahs of Sunset joke and it completely went over my head. Everyone laughed except me! I felt left out, guys. On the flip side, being sans cable has me reading books out of desperation, so that’s cool I guess, if you’re into that sort of thing.

I just finished Gabrielle Hamilton’s book, Blood, Bones and Butter, and whoa. Phew. If you’re looking for a new read, look no further–this is it. The writing is so beautiful, her journey so awesome and untraditional, and her whole perspective on food and cooking is really interesting. It’s lovely stuff.

Let’s talk about these fine looking cookies. They’re bright, spongy in texture (this is good!) and so refreshing. Have you ever had a refreshing cookie? Well…here ya go. The recipe, a random rant from moi, along with step-by-step photos are over on The Tasty Kitchen blog. GO!

    I’ve made Giada’s lemon ricotta cookies and I LOOOOVED them. But I’m sure they’re even better with meyer lemons!

    Mmmmm, I love spongey cookies. Especially when they’re still warm from the oven.

    I don’t know if I could get rid of cable, we don’t watch it too much in our house but I think I’d miss being able to catch up with some of my favourites and I definitely know what you mean when everyone has a joke from a show and you’ve missed it. 馃檨 A good book is great but sometimes I think you need to be able to remove your brain and completely zone out for a while. Do you think you’ll give in to your demons and get cable back?

    I didn’t had a Meyer lemon cookie in ages…maybe this weekend I’ll make those as I don’t even remember the taste anymore.

    I totally get where you’re coming from when it comes to cable TV. I once got really into All My Children because it was the only thing on. Scary! I’ve also forced myself to watch the Bachelorette just to know what my friends were talking about. (gag). I keep cable so I can watch all the Bravo programing and know that I am in fact NOT a hot mess in comparison.

    Yes Bethenny and Jason are fine from what I saw last episode they bicker and they make up. You can watch clips on Youtube if you need your fix!

    1. I saw Bethenny last weekend walking down Hudson St. in NYC (where I live). She was with her lovely hubby + child, and they all looked freaking adorable! See…even sans TV I can give you an update!

    I haven’t had cable in years – and I love it! Everything I want to watch I get online. Just stick with it and believe me, it will be worth it in the end. BTW, the cookies look amazing. I totally dig lemon ricotta pancakes, so I will be making the cookie version soon.

    I have never had cable and just stream shows on Netflix. I’ve finished Downtown Abbey Season 1 and cannot wait for Season 2. So, I’m totally behind on the new news. I love everything lemon dessert, so these lemon ricotta cookies are totally up my alley!

    These look so good! Meyer lemons have been appearing regularly at my grocery store lately, but I haven’t really known what I should do with them–until now. I’ll be trying these soon. Actually, I did buy a “pink lemon” the other day. The inside was a little pink, like a grapefruit, and the outside looked like a cross between a lime and a lemon. Had never seen one before.

    I loved “Blood, Bones and Butter” as well. Gabrielle Hamilton is a wonderful writer with a both a sense of drama and some comedic timing. I just finished “Life on the Line” by Grant Achatz and Nick Kokonas, and it was also amazing. You get an amazing picture of just how passionate Grant is, as well as the journey that brought him from making eggs in his family’s restaurant to Alinea. It’s an impressive, inspiring story.

    Your cookies look delicious, of course. They remind me of a Christmas cookie my mom makes, but we never had access to Meyer lemons in December in New England.

    I just made Giada’s version of these yesterday but left off the icing. They were amazing! Such a perfect texture. This makes me want to try them with Meyer lemons now. Mmmm.

    I felt exactly the same way when we cancelled our cable. How could my husband not understand that I NEEDED to be caught up on all my Real Housewives? It’s important stuff!

    I’m a faithful reader of your blog, and checked it today and decided I needed to make these cookies NOW! Even though it’s 90 degrees and my oven should not be on…ok maybe it’s not that hot.     Adrianna, going off cable is brutal. We are totally out of it too. We now watch old seasons as they come out on dvd – talk about missing out on the cable show jokes. By the time we watch the episodes, they are already old school.
