Every year it takes so much self-control to not make pumpkin everything once Labor Day is over. I was waiting until we were in proper fall. No pre-matureness here! It’s time for these Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls with Maple Frosting to shine! For this post, I teamed with ALDI, the place I go for all of my fall essentials. I stocked up on all the sugars, vanilla, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon and lots more. I also picked up their Simply Nature Organic Pure Pumpkin Puree and it has the loveliest texture (not too watery, not too thick) and prettiest bright orange color. Here is how these differentiate from regular cinnamon rolls. Replacing some of the eggs with pumpkin. I adapted my cinnamon roll recipe and added less eggs. The pumpkin took its place. That’s the commonality you’ll find in many pumpkin baked goods: The pumpkin can act like an egg…but not entirely. I made sure to still include 1 egg (my other recipe calls for 3 eggs). Baking is interesting, isn’t it!?!? The amount of pumpkin pie spice needs to be on point. Too much and it tastes medicinal and just […]

Adrianna Adarme http://acozykitchen.com <![CDATA[30-Minute Fall Veggie Pizza]]> https://www.acozykitchen.com/?p=40462 2019-10-11T21:51:12Z 2019-10-11T20:48:03Z Today I’m super excited because it is Pizza Day on A Cozy Kitchen. This 30-Minute Fall Veggie Pizza is perfect for a weeknight meal. I’ve never thought of homemade pizza as a quick and easy meal, but this recipe, with its easy and quick rise, has changed my mind! For this post, I teamed up with Fleischmann’s® Yeast using their RapidRise® Yeast. If you’ve never tried it, it’s pretty cool. What is RapidRise® Yeast? Most yeast requires you to get it started in water. Most of my recipes have you dissolve it into lukewarm water or milk and wait until it activates. Sometimes this can be finicky. It can take anywhere from 5 to 8 minutes for it to activate and get all nice and foamy. But this RapidRise® Yeast is actually mixed within the dry ingredients—no activation required! This means no waiting around for it to be activated. You can mix and proceed with the recipe! Believe it or not, this pizza dough takes about 5 minutes to be made and 10 minutes to rise. This is the perfect amount of time to sauté some veggies for the toppings Fall Veggie Toppings This is a white pie. The small […]

The autumn shift is happening all around us! Pumpkins and gourds are starting to show up at the markets, watermelon is now very bland and lacks any sort of sweetness, melons are slowly fading, and while LA has temperatures that are still kicking, there have been a few mornings that have felt brisk. Autumn is so close! I wanted to kick this season off with these Chocolate Cardamom Morning Rolls with Artisan Collection by Nestlé® Toll House®. Their two luxurious options are: Extra Semi-Sweet and Extra Dark. Both are really delicious. I’ve used them in a few baked goods and the chocolate is rich and has amazing deep flavor. These baking chips are made from single-origin chocolate from Ghana and are available now! Ghana is fortunate in having wonderful rich soil, making it ideal for its top exporter: cocoa beans. The chocolate is really high-quality and pairs with all sorts of flavors like caramel, walnuts, cinnamon, honey and more! I wanted to pair the Extra Semi-Sweet chocolate baking chips with something complementary. I found that ground cardamom was amazing with it. These rolls might look like cinnamon rolls but I can assure you they’re […]

I know how frustrating is when all you want to do is go to Homegoods and buy fall stuff, wear scarves and a hoodie and you’re forced to wear sandals and sweat. Despite the wonky weather, I brought fall today in form of this Sesame Pumpkin Chocolate Cake. For all intensive purposes, this cake is a snacking cake. You snack on it when you probably should just make yourself a meal. You bake this and then keep it on your counter for as long as possible (it probably won’t last long). It’s a great way to live! Here’s why this Sesame Pumpkin Chocolate Cake amazing. Ready? -This cake requires one-bowl -If you want, you can leave out the chocolate. You have freedom. -The flavor of toasted sesame oil and sesame seeds with pumpkin are surprisingly lovely. -The chocolate adds a lovely gooey touch to this cake that I am into. I’m into lazy cakes like this. It really should have a whole new section on this blog. And of course, this cake was inspired by my these sesame chocolate chip cookies that I […]

I put on Instagram a few weeks ago a question, “Do walnuts belong in chocolate chip cookies?!” I knew the question was divisive but I did it anyway! And boy, were the responses aggressive! People are incredibly opinionated about chocolate chip cookies, rightfully so. Results from the Poll “Do Walnuts Belong in Chocolate Chip Cookies?” 60% of readers voted “Absolutely not!” I felt attacked. 40% of readers voted “Yes, delicious!” I will tell you, I’m not that precious about my chocolate chip cookies. And walnuts happen to be one of my favorite nut varieties! I like them. They can stay. They can sit with us. If you’re in the “absolutely not” camp, don’t worry, this recipe allows you to leave them out completely. Browning Butter for Chocolate Chip Cookies Let’s dive into browning butter for chocolate chip cookies. Unfortunately it’s not as simple as browning butter. You see, when you brown butter, you cook the water out of the butter. Water in butter does a lot for baked goods. It adds moisture and steam. For this recipe for brown butter chocolate chip cookies, we brown the butter and then […]

Adrianna Adarme http://acozykitchen.com <![CDATA[10 Cozy Things to Make in October 2019]]> https://www.acozykitchen.com/?p=40125 2019-09-29T22:39:22Z 2019-09-29T22:39:22Z It is officially fall. The temperatures have cooled in Los Angeles. And I am living for this autumn vibe that is in the air. I am very ready for this. I have been scrolling through The Instagram and love the inundation of this season’s recipes popping up. I figured I’d add to the conversation with my own suggestions. These are a compilation of some of my favorites around this time of year. Shall we dive in? We should. 1. Cornbread Chicken and Dumplings – This is one of my all-time favorite fall recipes on this blog. When I figured out how GOOD dumplings are when cornmeal was added, I never looked back. You can use a store-bought rotisserie chicken, if you like, OR you can roast some chicken thighs. It’s a flexible recipe that is PERFECT for fall. 2. Spooky Mummy Pumpkin Pop Tarts – I’m not one for gross Halloween desserts. Like bloody fingers and spider web cupcakes, etc. But these are cute and tasty. I love that they’re just a small twist on a spooky dessert. 3. Cozy Pumpkin Chili – You can use this in a digital pressure cooker, which is amazing. I love this recipe. It […]

But before we dive into the recipe let’s talk about why I love this soup so very much. Cuban black beans might be my favorite food to get in all of Florida. They truly are the food of South Florida. While my family isn’t Cuban, we spent a lot of family celebrations at Cuban restaurants. They were our go-to. And the black bean soup was always a favorite (along my other favorites like ropa vieja and picadillo (recipe coming soon!)). The most critical part of Cuban black bean soup? The sofrito. In this instance it’s a combo of red onions, green bell pepper, garlic and some spices that give the beans some good flavor. Beans by themselves are notoriously bland so you definitely have to gussy them up with lots of spices and a healthy amount of salt. The Instant Pot Saves LOTS of Time! I remember when the Instant Pot first came on the scene, I was skeptical. But Billy was the only who truly converted me. My favorite part about cooking dry beans is that they are SO affordable. They’re so much cheaper […]

A few days shy but I figured I’d put up a post of some things to make this weekend, for Labor Day. I’m headed to Hawaii but if I was here, there are some things in this list that I would be making for 1. Espresso Chocolate Chip Cookies – I am ALWAYS on the look out for iterations of chocolate chip cookies. This version is a banger. I love it. Coffee and chocolate are a match made in heaven. 2. Melty Baked Brie with Walnuts, Honey and Figs – Baked brie is so underrated. I think it’s because people are used to seeing it wrapped in puff pastry and drizzled with like honey. They’re used to a trashy version (and for the record, I LOVE that version). This is a classier version of that. It’s melty and gooey. The crunchy walnuts, sweet honey and ripe, juicy figs are glorious. 3. Earl Grey Scones – Having a blog can be weird. I have no idea why this recipe has taken off in the last couple of weeks but it’s brought in SO much traffic. It’s an oldie of a recipe but it’s good. I love these scones. […]

Haha. Whenever I think I know what I’m doing, cakes love to come out of the oven all messed up and tasting mediocre; they laugh in my face and humble me right to the ground. All that testing was worth it because we now have a delicious cake that will remind you exactly of a piña colada. It has a balance of flavors of equal parts pineapple, coconut and rum. It’s only slightly boozy-tasting. When I was making this cake, it reminded me of Hawaii. And yeah, a lot of that has to do with how many frozen piña coladas I consumed before noon when I visited. I’ve only been once—last year for the first time—and it truly is one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to. There’s a vibe in Hawaii, I can’t explain it. But I think whenever I go to lands where the indigenous culture is so alive and celebrated, it gives the place a magical vibe. I feel similarly when I visit New Mexico. The Reason I Love Sheet Cakes! I love a sheet cake, always. Their ease is always welcomed. Of course, I tried to […]

I usually enjoy complaining about the hot weather, bugs and bright sun but I have to say, this summer has changed me. I’ve SO enjoyed all of the beautiful fruits and veggies and the warm weather has been, dare I say, enjoyable! It doesn’t hurt that a vacation to Hawaii is in my near future where I will, for the last time, celebrate summer. The last few months have been a good lesson in changing my perspective! Summer is far from over so we’re still riding the season’s wave with today’s post. I teamed up with Roth Cheese to share their new Chèvre! Their goat cheese is so perfectly tart and salty. When I went to go and make whipped goat cheese, I figured I’d need to add a few more things to make the flavor sing, but truly, it needed nothing. Not even a pinch of salt or a zest of lemon. Zilch. Nothing. It was truly perfect as is. To find some near you, click here! Their chèvre is made from fresh goat milk and tastes fresh, light and perfectly tangy. It also is wonderfully earthy. They were kind enough to […]

It’s taken a lot of time to get it to a place of total comfort. TBH when we first moved in, our bedroom resembled more of a dorm than a cozy, tranquil place. I was procrastinating on pulling the trigger on new furniture and decor—they’re hard choices to make haha. Before we get into the cozy details, let’s look at some beautiful before photos! Lol. The bedroom furniture was way too dark and the curtains hardly let in light. The bedroom needed a new fresh coat of paint and some new light fixtures. We also had a desk in there and it was just a place where we would keep folded clothes. We have a pretty small closet so we definitely needed a big dresser that could hold a lot of our clothes. I knew that I needed a whole lot of things and that’s where Lulu & Georgia came into the picture. I teamed up with Lulu & Georgia for this makeover and they supplied a good amount of the furniture and fixtures in the house. I had my eye on this Aliyah Velvet bed (in color Pine) for a long time. I […]

It’s an amazing show, GREAT content. And surprisingly very good for productivity. I always need some sort of television that doesn’t require insane amounts of attention to play in the background while I work. And 90 Day show is perfect for that! A few weeks ago we were blessed by being invited to a summer dinner party and I was tasked with dessert. I went strolling through the farmer’s market that weekend and I was stopped dead in my tracks by the fragrant, sweet smell of summery yellow peaches. Yum. I decided to buy a handful. I wanted something that was easily transportable and would be easy enough to whip up in an hour or so. This fit the bill perfectly. I made a sweeter version of Carla Hall’s biscuits. I added about 1/4 cup of sugar to make them a bit sweeter (they still weren’t very sweet so don’t worry). I sprinkled the tops with turbinado/raw sugar and a bit of flakey sea salt; they were delicious! Since I was transporting this whole thing, this is what i did: I baked off the biscuits, let them cool and packed […]

July felt long, if I’m being super honest. It was slow and treacherous. August already feels fast. We have so much work to do this month and then we’re off to a little vacation (hopefully) at the very beginning of September. But, I’m also still in a strong summer mood. Hatch Chile Summer Squash Queso Fundido – August is the month of the hatch chile! I love this queso fundido version because it uses up a ton of zucchini and summer squash. I love to cook it down and then layer it with cheese. SO good. VERY Good Blueberry Muffins – Look, it’s still summer which means blueberries are still thriving. Let’s take full advantage and make some blueberry muffins. Strawberries and Cream Cake – This is my favorite cake that I’ve made recently. Because it’s just SO simple and delicious. It’s fresh tasting and bright. I love it. Alfajores, Peruvian Style – I’m currently workshopping a new type of alfajore recipe but it’s of course based off of this classic. The cookies taste like a whisper, so amazing. And the center of course is filled with manjar blanco. Late-Summer Veggie “Bolognese” with Cauliflower Gnocchi – I […]

I like things to live here, too, especially given how Instagram captions can’t be rich-pinned and easily searchable. So here we are. This pie is perfect for literally every time of year. If it’s summer and you don’t want to warm up the oven, you only have to do it for the crust. A very short amount of time! If it’s the holidays or Thanksgiving, this is also a perfect pie. Not a ton of oven space? This is nearly a no-bake pie. French Silk Pie Facts French silk pie is technically an icebox cake. It gets its name from it’s silky texture. Makes sense, right? Instead of being more of a pudding-like filling, this pie is more similar to a super light mousse. The only big heads up you need to know about this pie is there is indeed raw egg in this dessert. When using raw eggs of any kind I always recommend opting for organic eggs or the best quality and freshest you can get your […]

I usually go the super easy route and buy the pre-made ones from the store stuffed with cheeses and then just try and make the sauce as exciting as possible. Let’s be clear: I still advocate for doing just that, especially on busier nights when time is not on our side. But, on occasion, when I’m feeling artsy, I like to make my own. For this post, I teamed up with Vidalia Onions from Georgia. These onions—if you’re unfamiliar—are so deliciously sweet and tender. Now, you’re probably going to ask me, “Adrianna, what’s the difference between a regular yellow onion and a Vidalia onion?” I’m glad you asked! Vidalia onions are from Vidalia, Georgia. The water content in Vidalias is usually higher than a yellow onion, resulting in a more tender and gentler flavor. Their vibe is subtle and a bit more mellow. If I’m eating raw yellow onions, I usually soak them in a bit of water with salt to take their edge off; no need with Vidalias! Their primo season is from April through September. And while they’re usually categorized as “sweet onions” not all sweet onions are Vidalias. […]
